With a number of Met Gala invitations stashed through her door in recent years, Katy Perry is no stranger to a tricky dress code and last night, she certainly brightened up the pink carpet.
Dressed as a chandelier, the singer stole the spotlight in a visual masterpiece by close friend and creative director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott.
In keeping with the theme of ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’, the light-up creation wouldn’t look out of place in a ballroom.
Crafted from thousands of Swarovski crystals, the weighty mini dress boasted mirrored shards with jewels strewn across the hemline.
But not only did a theatrical chandelier swing from the bodice, as Perry finished the magic ensemble with a second chandelier balanced atop her sleek blonde bob.
A pair of bejewelled fairytale-inspired shoes by Judith Leiber landed the 34-year-old extra campy points.
In a bid to secure her top spot in the Met Gala stakes (Lady Gaga, look out), Scott also joined in on the photocall decked in co-ordinating crystals.
But her latest look left the Internet divided with many social media users drawing comparisons to candle stick Lumière from ‘Beauty and the Beast’:

It’s a shame they didn’t ask @katyperry to be Lumiere in the live action movie of Beauty and the Beast. Maybe this will be the outfit inspiration in the remake where they cast a woman as Lumiere #METGala #whatiscamp pic.twitter.com/Pu5i90Utxg

I know Katy Perry is basically a chandelier, but for some reason because of the lights, this is who i’m being reminded of. The candle stick Lumiere of Beauty and the Beast. #MetGala pic.twitter.com/KIOlYAdRjH
