Corsets are having a real moment right now. Bridgerton has done a solid job of elevating all-things Regency-core, and the form-fitting staple has gone on to take over the red carpet and social media simultaneously. Last week's Met Gala played host to a slew of corseted looks, including Gigi Hadid's red latex Versace situation and Billie Eilish's stunning Gucci number made from entirely upcycled fabrics. Over on TikTok, the fashion piece is one of the biggest trends the platform has ever seen, with the '#corset' hashtag seeing over 3.5 billion views. Now, Katy Perry has gone and stepped out in, you guessed it, a corseted look and we're HUGE fans.

For a recent episode of American Idol, Katy stepped out wearing an absolutely stunning corset mini by Dolce & Gabbana. The dress in question gives a very Madonna-esque spin on underwear as outerwear aesthetic, with the silky pink padded design cinched at the front by multiple lace-up sections, complementing the classic hook and eye fastening at the front.

Madonna wore a similar-toned corset style, albeit in leotard form, for a concert back into 1990. Unlike Katy, though, Madonna's number featured Jean Paul Gaultier's signature cone bra detail:

Katy shared snaps of her latest look on Instagram with a punny caption which reads: "Of CORSET you’re watching #americanidol rn riiight? 🎀 📸: @manthony783"

Katy's stylist, Tatiana Waterford, also shared the outfit on her own account, ID'ing the dress as a Dolce & Gabbana design.

What a dress, right?
