Last week, Katy Perry announced she was pregnant with her fiancé Orlando Bloom. Taking to Instagram, the 35-year-old singer confirmed she'll be welcoming the first offspring from Perry & Bloom (I wish that was a brand, it would make such a good name for a brand) later this year. YAY for some happy news.
During an Instagram Live following the release of her new music video, 'Never Worn White', in which she shared her baby bump with the world, Katy answered a load of her fans' questions about the well-hidden pregnancy. She revealed her rough due date (some time this summer), how she managed to conceal it for so long ("sucking it in" or "carrying around a big purse lol") and she also shared some of her strange pregnancy cravings.
It's common for expectant mothers to experience a change of taste during pregnancy. According to the NHS, "cravings come in all shapes and sizes" and can on some occasions be an indication of a vitamin deficiency - if what you're craving isn't exactly food (think coal, toothpaste and even soil... gross).
Luckily for the Roar singer, she hasn't experienced any cravings that are quite that weird - but she has noticed significant changes in her taste.
“You want to talk cravings…" Katy wrote on Instagram Live. "I like, literally, never cared for spice, and now, I have to carry Tabasco sauce in my purse like that woman. Like, I am that woman. I am Karen with her Tabasco sauce. Some people have essential oils, and I have Tabasco sauce. ... I've been eating the same burrito for weeks on end," she posted.
So, nice and spicy it is in the Perry/Bloom household.
Describing how she feels about becoming a mother for the first time, the singer said: "I’m excited, we’re excited, and happy. It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music. While it’s not the lead single, it’s a good way to start out. I had to reveal it [the pregnancy] at some point."
"It was all set for Japan with 150 guests," a source told People of the wedding. "Katy was actually really excited about walking down the aisle pregnant… they were both so elated that all the wedding details were finally coming together, but they are hitting pause because of coronavirus."
On the plus side, at least their baby son or daughter will be there as part of their special day now, whenever they decide they want it to be.
