Katie Price has slammed Joey Essex’s stint in the Love Island villa.

The TOWIE legend became the first celebrity bombshell to enter the villa on Monday 3 June, but it doesn’t looks like everyone approves of his decision.

"I don't think it was a good move for him,” the former glamour model said on her podcast, The Kate Price Show.

As her sister Sophie speculated whether he had earned a fee for his appearance on the ITV show, Katie exclaimed: “Of course he has!”

Commenting on the star’s time in the villa so far, the mum of five said: "But it's weird how none of the girls went for him and yet they all said they fancied him.

"I was pretty shocked he was on it. I think he's got quite a high status to be going on that show, he's quite established himself," she said, even claiming he’d be too big for the “Celebrity Love Island”.

Katie and Joey have worked together on TV shows in the past, as she paid compliments to the former TOWIE star. "I like Joey I did SAS with him and I really really like him," she said.

Although Katie, and fans, have speculated the star is being paid ‘the big bucks’ for his time on the show, one insider claimed he was being paid just as much (or little) as his co-stars.

“Joey is being treated like any other Love Island contestant, he’s playing by the same rules and won’t be given any preferential treatment,” an insider told the Mail Online.

It is reported that the contestants normally get paid around £375 a week to appear on the show, to cover their rent and bills back home, as the insider claims Joey is receiving the same treatment.

“He hasn't been paid an appearance fee or any money at all for signing up to the show, not a penny,” the insider claims.

At 33, Joey is the oldest contestant to ever sign up for the series, but the source insists he’s in there ‘for the right reasons,’ to find love.

The reality star has already caused drama in the villa, as his late entrance meant he had 24 hours to get to know the girls and choose who to recouple with.

When it came to decision time around the firepit, he chose to couple up with Samantha, causing Sam Taylor to be sent home packing after just one day in the villa.

Although the star claimed the makeup artist was the only girl he had eyes for, it seems like his head may well have been turned by new bombshell Uma.
