Katie Holmes Reminds Us That Blazers Can Also Be Sexy
Katie Holmes suited up for her latest red-carpet appearance.
While amongst the other A-list attendees at last night's Red Sea International Film Festival's Women's Stories Gala, the actor put her sophisticated and sleek style on display via an all-black outfit. The look consisted of a a structured hourglass double-breasted blazer with a glossy satin lapel. She paired the statement outerwear with a body-hugging skirt with a silver zipper down the center, which she wore half unzipped.
Her bright red lipstick and bejeweled hot-pink slingback pumps from Manolo Blahnik added a pop of color to the otherwise monochromatic ensemble. Meanwhile, to accessorize, Holmes relied on dazzling long stick earrings and a gold garnet ring from Arielle Ratner, as well as a glittering rectangular black clutch.
Fans may recognize the Dawson Creek alum's penchant for understated elegance when it comes to her red-carpet appearances.
For example, while attending a charity event for Family Equality in New York City earlier this week, Holmes wore a subversive take on the classic black slipdress by stepping out in a leather Chloé dress, which featured lacelike embroidery and delicate cutouts. She paired the slip with a black double-breasted blazer, black leather mules from Acne Studios, and a black leather shoulder bag.
Last year, the actor talked to Bazaar.com about her mindset when it comes to dressing up for high-profile events.
“We live in a world where we have a premiere and you want to look nice, and it turns into being a fashion person, and I’m like, ‘Well, I just like to look nice, I’m not really a fashion person.’ We all just want to look good,” she said.
