Kate Winslet just responded to rumours about The Holiday 2

Iris-Miles-Amanda-Graham fans, don't get too excited, because the rumours have been confirmed to *not* be true. After reports that the original foursome (Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law) all signed on for a sequel of the Christmas classic The Holiday, it seems a second film has been shut down as quickly as it emerged.

Avatar 2 star Kate Winslet, who played English rose Iris Simpkins in the now iconic movie, recently broke her silence on whether round two was happening or not.

Speaking to People magazine, the 47-year-old said: "I read something about that, but it's the first I've heard of it."

"I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that's never come up," she added.

The realisation that we'll never get to see the couples dancing around in Graham's living room on New Year's Eve again got even more real, as writer and director Nancy Myers shared a similar statement on social media.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "So many DM's about this – sorry but it's not true."

However, despite the false rumours, the Black Beauty star did confess that she'd be up for reprising her role should a sequel ever come to fruition.

"It would be so fun to see Miles and Iris get back together," she said. "I kind of imagine, like, how cute would their children be? Tiny Jack Blacks running around everywhere."

But while this recent news has broken the hearts of millions of rom-com lovers (including ours) across the globe, at least we've still got the original to binge every year for now.

*Watches The Holiday for the 700th Christmas and cries every time Miles says "If you were a melody... I used only the good notes."*
