The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continued to show their support to those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine as they paid a visit to the London headquarters of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) this afternoon (April 21).
The royal couple were learning more about DEC's ongoing Ukrainian relief effort, following reports that currently more than 11 million people have been forced to leave their homes to escape the fighting. This includes 4 million who have fled to other countries as refugees and 7 million who are internally displaced.
DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.
Kate and William met with recently returned aid workers and spoke with those on the ground in Ukraine via a video call to understand more about their work and the human impact of the conflict.
The duchess looked elegant in a cream Reiss blazer which she teamed with a white t-shirt and a pair of smart navy trousers and black heels. The double breasted twill blazer is priced at £285 and is now only available in a size 16. Sizes are available in the camel colour.
Kate also sported a badge showcasing the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag, which she previously wore during an engagement at London's Ukrainian Cultural Center in March.
Back in February, the duke and duchess expressed their support for President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine in a statement posted on their Kensington Royal Twitter account.
"In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine's future," their statement read. "Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine's people as they bravely fight for that future."
Meanwhile, the duke and duchess began the day by wishing the Queen a Happy Birthday as the monarch turns 96 today (April 21).
Sharing a lovely image of themselves with Her Majesty at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019, and another of the Queen with her late husband Prince Philip and their grandchildren, Kate and William added the caption: "Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today!
"An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year."
