The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a special royal engagement as they visited their old university at St Andrews. The couple first met as students there nearly 20 years ago.

As part of their royal tour of Scotland, Will and Kate took a trip down memory lane as they visited the University of St Andrews campus.

Walking side by side with matching umbrellas, the royal duo were all smiles as they arrived to pay a visit to their old stomping ground.

During the appearance, Will and Kate spoke with current students to hear about their experiences during the pandemic.

Later on, they also picked up spades and took part in a tree planting ceremony.

The royal duo looked had dressed up for the visit in smart casual outfits, with the duchess wearing a £549 Black Twill Double Breasted Blazer by the British brand Holland Cooper over a classic Breton knit.

She completed her outfit with straight leg black jeans and what looks like on-trend Veja trainers. Kate has worn the brand's trainers before, but this appears to be a new pair in the rose gold colour.

Earlier in the day, Will and Kate visited the beach at West Sands and took part in a land yachting session.

Their day out in St Andrews follows a trip to Orkney on Tuesday (25 May), which saw them officially open a new hospital, enjoy a cup of tea with a local family and visit a tidal energy turbine. The royal tour of Scotland began on Friday (21 May) with William's arrival and he was joined on Monday (23 May) by Kate for a joint appearance in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire.
