Kate Moss, Sophie Turner Party Amid Mannequins at Miu Miu’s Exclusive Resort Show in Paris

Passing cocktails to Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, hanging out next to Marc Jacobs as he smoked a cigarette on the balcony and listening to Kate Moss at the DJ turntable were the sort of experiences to be had at Miu Miu’s VIP-only Croisière 2017 Collection presentation party, thrown at a private nightclub to showcase the brand’s latest resort collection.

It was the party of the haute couture fashion week — at least for now — and the exclusive nature of the Hôtel de la Païva, a private men’s club on the Champs-Élysées, intrigued everyone in the fashion world.

Up its famed yellow onyx staircase, following the likes of singers Soko and Petite Meller, a kooky presentation on plastic mannequins was spread out across a series of drawing rooms.

Each one was dressed in vibrant garments in a cacophony of colors, prints, beaded embellishments, and fabrics — both noble (silks) and sporty (nylon).

The presentation setting allowed viewers to appreciate all the quirky details of each outfit, and to marvel over the bright, beach-ready tote bags, the feather- and crystal-trimmed slide-on sandals, the multicolored socks, and the yellow gingham ribbon straps that sprouted out of shoes and wrapped up the mannequins’ legs.

The overall feel of the collection was playful and fun-loving, in keeping with the kind of woman who is drawn to the Miu Miu brand. Under giant umbrellas that staved off a drizzling summer rain, guests like Dianna Agron, Roxane Mesquida, and Emma Greenwell watched France beat Iceland 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the Euro2016 soccer tournament.

The win for the home team created an even more festive mood at Miu Miu. Guests feasted on fresh oysters and sipped champagne while they lounged on four-poster beds or tried their hand at a game of backgammon. It was a sign of how great the party was that people lingered late into the night.

No one seemed ready to leave the scene, and the worlds of cool and merriment mixed so well that the party felt less like a presentation and more like a happening you didn’t want to end.
