Kate Middleton wore one of the Queen's treasured pieces of jewellery, the Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker, to her funeral today.

The mum-of-three, 40, dressed in a long coat dress and a wide-brimmed hat with a veil, accessorising it with the striking, four-strings of pearls, which were fastened in the centre of her throat with a curved, diamond clasp.

Far from a coincidence, the choice of jewels would have been a sartorial gesture from the Princess to Her Majesty. Over the years, the choker has been worn by multiple royals including both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana.

Her Majesty was photographed wearing the choker back in 1983, for an engagement in Bangladesh.

Over the weekend, the Princess wore another pearl piece owned by Queen Elizabeth II - a longer, three-strand necklace that the monarch reportedly wore every day.

Last night the Royal Family released a previously unseen photo of Her Majesty wearing the same necklace.

'Ahead of Her Majesty The Queen’s Funeral, a new photograph has been released. It was taken this year to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, as she became the first British Monarch to reach this milestone.'

The Queen is synonymous with lavish jewels, and luckily for those to close to her, she was happy to share. Meghan Markle has been seen wearing simple pearl drop earrings gifted to her by her late great-grandmother-in-law.
