Kate Middleton made her first royal appearance of 2025 last week when she paid a surprise visit to Royal Marsden Hospital, where she received treatment for cancer last year. The Princess of Wales wore a striking all-maroon ensemble for the outing, pairing a turtleneck by _ with a matching skirt by Edeline Lee. She completed the look with a brown tartan coat by Blazé Milano along with several carefully chosen accessories—among them, a pair of earrings that may have been a subtle nod to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

According to People, Middleton's earrings may have been Cartier's famous Trinity hoops, which feature three twisted hoops of 18ct rose, yellow and white-gold. The Trinity range, which recently celebrated its 100th birthday, was also reportedly a staple of Diana's collection, who frequently wore the ring on her pinky.

Middleton has also previously been spotted in other pieces from the Trinity range. In March 2017 for instance, she wore a necklace from the Trinity collection during a royal trip to Paris.

During last week's hospital visit, Middleton revealed that she is now in remission—although her recovery is still ongoing. "You think treatment's finished, crack on with that…daily tasks, but that's still like a real challenge," she said to staff at the hospital. "Understanding that as a patient, yes there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects."

Middleton drew from her experience to offer some words of support to other patients at the hospital. “The resilience you need to get through, first of all, a small taster of what you've gone through...It's to keep coming back…to be as positive as you are," Middleton told Ruth, a patient, during her visit. "The treatments are really so different and so varied, it impacts families differently.”

As Middleton continues her recovery, she will be slowly increasing her royal duties—however, it is likely she will pace herself this year. "She is looking after herself and is wise to do so," a source told People. "She will know when she wakes up if she is well enough or not [to do something]."
