Marrying into the royal family must bring about a whole load of changes, to every aspect of your life, from what you're able to 'suitably' wear in public to the sort of people you can comfortably class as friends – which is why Kate Middleton's new BFF is the perfect choice. After all, she's a royal too!

Fans of the Duchess of Cambridge have been quick to flood social media with comments about K-Mid's apparent newfound bond with Princess Anne, her husband Prince William's aunt, after the pair embarked on their first ever royal outing together as a twosome. I mean, name a more iconic duo?

The pair joined forces yesterday to visit two maternity organisations that they're both patrons for, and it's a pretty significant move given that Kate has now been doing the official royal rounds for over a decade and has never once attended a duty with just Anne alone.

It's the perfect pairing though, as the Duchess of Cambridge is a patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Princess Royal is a patron of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM).

Kate and Anne looked as though they were absolutely loving being in one another's company whilst hearing about how both organisations are planning to come together and improve maternal care for future generations.

Although she generally tends to fly a little more under the radar when it comes to press coverage, the Princess Royal is certainly not one to shy away from hard work either, often coming up top trumps when it comes to the number of royal engagements carried out per year. She's involved with around 300 charities and organisations and back in 2017, it's reported that she carried out a whopping 540 official duties, spanning both at home and abroad (according to Hello!).

As for who else is in the Duchess' inner circle, Kate likes to keep things within the family and is super close with both her brother, James Middleton, and sister, Pippa Middleton, who performed bridesmaid duties at her and Prince William's large-scale Westminster Abbey wedding.

Kate is also said to share a tight-knit bond with interior designer, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, who she met while studying at Marlborough College – she was even given the honour of being one of Prince George's godparents.

Let's hope for more Kanne content soon! (Yep, gonna need to work on a better joint name for them...)
