The summer holidays are just around the corner and whilst for most kids that means days spent playing footie in the garden or chasing after the ice cream van, for Prince George things look quite a bit different. In fact, as children up and down the country wind down for six weeks of school-free heaven, the future King will be rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty as he heads to the farm to earn some pocket money.

Yep, turns out the little royal has a pretty impressive work ethic, as Kate Middleton recently revealed he likes to spend his time off helping out at the local farm. "That was George's job at half term – moving feed," the Duchess of Cambridge told two local farmers during a royal visit earlier this year.

And it's not the first time that Prince George's love of the farm has been shared, as Prince William also opened up about his son's passion. "We've been lambing with the children this week," William said to Rhian Roberts – a primary school teacher whose family runs a dairy farm – whilst on an official visit in 2020.

"Charlotte wasn't sure at first, but George was straight in there... They love seeing the lambs and feeding the lambs," the Duke of Cambridge added, throwing in that: "Louis loves the tractors."

Speaking about the interaction, Roberts later recalled: "He said they’ve been lambing this week up in Norfolk. They want the children to see the country way of life as well as the city way of life."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's desire for their kids to get to know the big outdoors seems to be going to plan, as eight-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte and four-year-old Prince Louis, are known to have a fond appreciation for nature, and particularly a love of spiders. In 2018 on a visit to Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden in Paddington, Kate revealed that she spends "hours" hunting for spiders in the garden with the kids [via HELLO!].

"[Kate] said she often takes her children on spider hunts in their garden, which they love," headteacher Zoe Strous, who showed Kate around, said afterwards. "They can spend hours out there. She really understands the value of being outdoors for children."

Sounds like Prince George will be counting down the days until he is back in the field...
