The royal family are publicly wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a happy birthday.

Archie turns two-years-old today. The tot was born on May 6, 2019 at a London hospital and was later christened Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor by his proud parents.

To mark the occasion of their nephew's birthday, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a photograph of Archie's christening to their new, recently upgraded, Instagram account @dukeandduchessofcambridge.

'Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today, [sic]' the caption reads alongside the photo from the 2019 occasion, which the couple attended along with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland and Prince Harry and William's aunts, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale who are the sisters of the late Princess Diana.

Last year, to mark Archie's first birthday, the family wished him well while his parents chose to share a video of the former Suits star reading to Archie for Save The Children UK, while Prince Harry was heard laughing as he recorded the storytime session.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Markle is to release her first children's book, entitled The Bench which was inspired by observing the relationship between her husband and son.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently expecting a daughter, which they announced with a beautifully relaxed photograph from their California garden earlier this year.

The couple later confirmed the sex of their baby in their groundbreaking televised interview with Oprah Winfrey.
