There comes a time in the year for all of us when we suddenly realise temperatures have plummeted and days have shortened, leaving one and all to wonder how to whip up a sense of cosiness to make it all feel more bearable.

And, inevitably for many of us, that quest for cosiness leads to an A/W hair renovation. For some, a fringe becomes very tempting (hi Perrie, Cardi B and Alicia Keys). For others, it's pumpkin spice hair (good day to you Em Rata, Ashley Benson and Kaia Gerber).

K-Mid, however, has gone in a different direction entirely. After experimenting with honey blonde tones, halo highlights and beachy waves this summer, she seems to have transitioned (via one spectacular 90s up-do this weekend, I might add) into her own interpretation of the cosy-A/W-hair-brief: sleek, chocolatey gorgeousness.

She posted a video via her royal Instagram account today in recognition of charity The Royal British Legion, which provides lifelong support to those who have served with the British Armed Forces, and also their families.

For the digital public appearance, Kate took on a preppy aesthetic, right down to the Gossip Girl-esque collar and pearly earring combination. She set the look off with what looks like newly chocolate-brunette hair, which, instead of a blowing out, she wore sleek, straightened, and pushed back behind her shoulders.

It's a new look for the Duchess, who is rarely seen without her classic bouncy curls - but we think it looks classy as heck.

Anyone else desperate to know what heat tools she used? My guess is on the GHD Rise, but all bets are off at this point.
