Kate Middleton ‘being very careful’ not to take limelight from Prince William, claims royal expert
The Duchess of Cambridge is “very careful” to ensure she is not taking the limelight from her husband, the Duke of Cambridge, a royal expert has claimed.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, royal biographer Penny Junor explained how Kate Middleton is cautious of taking too much attention away from Prince William, implying that she might have learnt a lesson from the amount of attention Princess Diana received from the public compared to Prince Charles when they were married.
“Charles was Prince of Wales and not used to having the limelight taken from him,” Junor told the publication.
“That caused huge problems. Kate is being very careful to ensure she doesn’t outstrip William. She is not on an ego trip, and her head has not been turned by celebrity.”
Junor added: “Kate is a working woman doing a job. She didn’t leave the human race when she joined Planet Windsor.”

The author also commented on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired last month in which the couple shed light on their experiences in the royal family.
In the interview, Meghan claimed she was denied help by palace aides after telling them she had been experiencing suicidal thoughts.
The Duchess also alleged that a member of the royal family had made a racist remark about the colour of her son’s skin before he was born.
In response, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”
Commenting on the interview, Junor said: “When Harry and Meghan talked to Oprah, they were more concerned about their own welfare; it was all about them and that’s been their narrative all along.
“But there’s a difference between service and self-service. I feel real service is doing things selflessly for others. I think that’s what Kate understands.”
Junor added that the Duchess’s behaviour following the interview “spoke volumes”.
“Kate was making a very subtle point,” she said before going on to reference Kate’s appearance at the memorial for Sarah Everard in Clapham.
“You don’t need to make a song and dance about things,” she added. “She showed up at Clapham quietly with absolutely no fanfare. I just thought it spoke volumes.”
