Kensington Palace has announced Kate Middleton's first official royal engagement since having Prince Louis back in April.

Ever since she gave birth to her third child on April 23, 2018, the Duchess of Cambridge has been spending some time out of the spotlight on maternity leave. Aside from a few exceptions - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in May being one, and the Queen's Trooping The Colour birthday celebrations in June being another - Kate has been laying low, enjoying time with her newborn.

But Kensington Palace has announced that, next week, the Duchess' will attend a royal engagement, signalling the end of her maternity leave.

On Tuesday October 2, Kate will visit the Sayers Croft Trust Forest School and the Wildlife Garden at Paddington Recreation Ground. The nature of her engagements - an outdoor education charity and a children's playground - reflects one of the key issues the Duchess has paid special attention to since becoming an official member of the royal family seven years ago: early years support.

Kate's return to her royal duties on Tuesday will mean she's had a little over five months off, not straying too far from the expected half-year royal onlookers believed she would take.

At five months old, and with Prince George at school and Princess Charlotte at nursery, Prince Louis will likely be cared for by the Cambridge's nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo in his mother's absence. Borrallo trained at the prestigious Norland School for nannies, and has cared for William and Kate's children since Prince George was a baby.

We can't wait to see the Duchess back in business with her royal duties next week!
