From Kate and Meghan to the Queen, the best royal fashion moments of 2018

2018 was undoubtedly the year of the royal family, as the Windsor clan dominated the global stage with high-profile weddings, christenings and tours plastered across the newsstands.

But every public engagement and social media photocall requires a diplomatic outfit in keeping with the formality of the event. Thankfully, it’s a royal duty Kate and Meghan have effortlessly mastered.

Just weeks after Kensington Palace announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s engagement, Meghan introduced the world to her covetable sense of style.

Whether it was her protocol-breaking Altuzarra dress or that Oscar de la Renta showstopper, the ‘Meghan Effect’ captured the fashion industry in its persuasive clutches this year and hasn’t let go since – with every one of her ensembles garnering sell-out status.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge has continued to reign over the market largely courtesy of her maternity wardrobe – which often features surprisingly affordable high street numbers.

But this year also gave royals further down the pecking order a chance to step into the sartorial spotlight with Princess Eugenie tying the knot in a Peter Pilotto gown while sister Beatrice made her Met Gala debut.

From Queen Elizabeth II to the Duchess of Sussex, these were this year’s best royal outfits.
