Kate Garraway thanks the NHS again after an emergency trip to hospital with her mum

·2-min read

Kate Garraway has taken another distressing incident in her stride, with her usual positivity and gratitude. The TV star's mother suffered a nasty tumble on the way to the beach in Cornwall and had to be whizzed to A&E.

Suffering a broken foot and twisted ankle, her mum was taken care of by staff at local Bodmin hospital before Kate drove her home for further treatment. Even in the midst of crisis Kate still found time to make a special post thanking the NHS staff.

Telling fans and followers: "Just when you thought (hoped!) I hadn’t had a new reason to thank the NHS recently, cue an unfortunate tumble from my mum on the way to the beach and a broken foot and twisted ankle. Thanks to the typically wonderful NHS team at Bodmin Hospital, and particularly wonderful Ruth, we managed to get her booted and safely home for further treatment. You were all so kind - thank you so much."

The picture showed the lovely medical professional Ruth who'd been particularly helpful, alongside Kate's mum sat leaning into the car with her boot on, safely ready to make the journey home. Even with a mask on the similarities in frame and energy to Kate are clear. We hope she's feeling better soon.

The star was also grateful to be in a car with; "enough room for her to keep her leg stretched out for the whole journey (although it did mean my Dad was relegated for the first time ever to the back seat , where he really enjoyed defining the expression 'back seat driver'!! )"

We can't believe dad had never ridden in the back before!

The family had been enjoying a lovely reunion in Cornwall with extended family they hadn't seen in 18 months, while Derek's family came down to London to support his nurses while Kate was away.

After the year the family has had, with Derek being the longest hospitalised Covid patient in the UK, and still in serious recovery from the illness, we're so sad to see their lovely break had to end in this way. But it doesn't seem Kate is letting it dampen their spirits.
