Kate Garraway has taken to Instagram to reveal that her husband, Derek’s, office and therapy rooms have been packed up.

Sharing a photograph of herself alongside a smiling removal man, the Good Morning Britain presenter wrote: “So… one of the things have been tackling is packing up Derek’s therapy rooms & office. Had been dragging my feet because I knew it would be so emotional & because didn’t want to seem to be giving up hope of him returning to the work he loves one day.

Then the building was put up for sale and we had to clear out - fate! Next problem was the huge task of packing up all his files, his cuttings, books and furniture he’s treasured for decades.”

The mum-of-two then spoke of how supportive the removal company had been and finished with: “Thanks a million chaps - will be definitely calling you when Derek is setting up his new venture! 🤞🤞🤞💕”.

Derek was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after contracting Covid-19 and was put in an induced coma. He remained in hospital care until returning home earlier this year but now needs round-the-clock care and is still suffering with the effects of Long Covid, a debilitating result of contracting the virus.

In September, Kate won a National Television Award for her ITV documentary, Finding Derek, which followed Kate and her family’s journey as they coped with Derek’s diagnosis and hospital stay.

Kate and Derek share children Darcey and Billy together.
