Kate Garraway appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday morning (9 April) to reveal that her husband, Derek Draper, has now returned to their home, as he continues his recovery journey.
Derek had been in hospital since March 2020, after falling ill with Covid-19 at the start of the pandemic. The dad-of-two is thought to be the UK's longest-surviving Coronavirus inpatient.
Chatting to her fellow GMB stars Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh about Derek leaving hospital, Kate said: "I know we've seen people come out of hospital where they've been able to come and everything, and I would have loved to have been been able to share that too, but it's just not quite that coming home yet for Derek. But we've got to stay positive, we've got to have hope.
"He'll get there! And he's here!" she added with a huge smile, throwing her arms wide open.
Ben added: "That means so much to all of us, Kate. And give Darcey and Bill (Kate and Derek's children, 14-year-old Darcey and Billy, 12) a big hug from us, and Derek as well - send him our love."
Kate replied with a laugh: "Thank you very much, and hopefully I haven't woken him up!"
The GMB presenter recently shared a candid and personal insight into her family's life since Derek became ill in an ITV documentary, Finding Derek, which aired last month.
