Kate Garraway has released a book about husband Derek Draper's battle with Covid-19, and how it's impacted her family's life.
The Good Morning Britain presenter's book is called The Power of Hope, and was released 29 April, 13 months after Derek was admitted to hospital with the virus in March last year.
Psychotherapist and author Derek, 53, is finally home from hospital and Kate has previously explained the illness has wreaked "havoc" on his body.
"While my experience of Covid is extreme and extraordinary, I'm only too aware that this virus has impacted every single one of us," Kate said in a statement via her book publisher Transworld at Penguin Books. "We're all going through this, to some degree.
"By telling the story of Derek's illness and how it has altered our family’s lives, I hope to be able to reach out to others who are suffering."
She continued: "If writing about my experience of facing fear, coping daily with an uncertain future and finding strength for the sake of my kids can help another person feeling lost or in despair, it'll mean a lot."
Publisher Penguin added: "In this intimate book, Kate shares her deeply personal story. As well as recounting how the illness took hold of their lives, she writes about how she is coping with the uncertainty of their future, how she's supporting her children through this traumatic time, how she has found strength in community and how she strives to hold on to hope even at the darkest of times."
Kate has regularly shared updates on her husband's progress. On GMB, alongside co-host Ben Shephard, she opened up about a visit she and her two children, Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, were able to take to see Derek over the Christmas break.
"There was a lovely moment we did have, which was, we did over the period get to see Derek. The children did, which is the first time they've been able to do that, so that was amazing," Kate informed viewers.
"Of course it was very heightened with emotion because he's very changed. So all the routines that we would normally do, it was one of those moments where it was so wonderful but then also it sort of amplified how sad everything was. Does that make sense? But it was still fantastic and I'm very grateful to have had that opportunity."
Kate posted on her instagram account to thank the public for the support she has had from the book so far, following an appearance on ITV's This Morning to discuss the release.
GMB's Susanna Reid also posted a photo of The Power of Hope on her instagram describing it as a "wonderful book full of wisdom.
