Kate Garraway finds new ‘hope’ after enduring ‘tricky 48 hour uphill’ battle at home

Kate Garraway says gardening has provided an escape for her after feeling like she has been facing an “uphill battle”.

The 55-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter - who is a carer for her husband Derek Draper after he faces an on-going battle with Long Covid - didn’t go into too much detail, but admitted that the last 48 hours have been “tricky”.

She said she had been given a much needed boost however after seeing her gardening endeavours bringing “new life” in the form of some lovely yellow Crocuses.

Alongside an image of the brilliant blooms, the mum-of-two wrote: “So this is why I love nature & gardening so much - after a tricky 48 hours of feeling like am trudging up hill on ice my first crocus bursts up - the spirit of life & hope in gorgeous yellow form!”

The beloved TV star’s fans were quick to offer their well-wishes and messages of support in the comments section.

“Sending you love Kate, hope things start to improve for you this year,” wrote one person, followed by four kisses.

“Such a wonderful life-affirming moment when we see nature bursting into bloom. Hope things improve for you and yours,” wrote a second.

While a third added: “Spring is so good for the soul.. I felt this on Sunday.. literally felt my soul lift x.. look after yourself.”

Garraway and former political adviser Draper, have been married since 2005 and share two children together - 16-year-old daughter Darcey and 13-year-old William, known as “Billy”.

Draper almost died when he contracted Covid in March 2020 and spent a year in hospital.

He was finally able to return home in April 2021, but still needs round-the-clock care.
