The Los Angeles Police Department has released a statement, which confirmed that Angela was discovered "deceased inside her vehicle," on 22 December and that her boyfriend, 49-year-old Jason Barker, has been arrested "on suspicion of murder."

The statement added, "Detectives believe that Barker killed the victim inside their Sherman Oaks residence, placed her inside her vehicle, and drove to Simi Valley."
