Kanye West has apologised to Kim Kardashian for speaking publicly about private family matters. A week ago, the rapper delivered an emotional speech at his first presidential campaign rally before tweeting a series of allegations directed at Kim and also Kris Jenner. He also said he wanted to divorce his wife of six years.

Returning to Twitter over the weekend, Kanye issued a public apology to Kim and asked her to forgive him.

He tweeted: "I would like to apologise to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me."

While Kim didn't publicly acknowledge the apology, she did like a message from a fan who wrote, "I love you both so much" in response to the post.

Kanye's tweet came a few days after Kim released a statement addressing the rapper's mental health.

"As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy," the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star began.

She continued: "He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressure being being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions."
