Kanye West Cancels His New York Fashion Week Show
Kanye's New York fashion show is always filled with drama (models passing out in soaring temperatures, invites sent in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag etc) but this year looks set to be an altogether quiet affair.
According to Business of Fashion, the rapper and design mogul has chosen not to show his Yeezy Season 6 collection on its originally scheduled date, which was 13 September.
Redken, who was on hand as a beauty collaborator for the show, reportedly sent an email Wednesday confirming the cancellation.
Representatives for Kanye West and Adidas did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation, says Business of Fashion.
A source close to the star, however, says it wasn't as dramatic as it sounds. 'There was never a show on the NYFW schedule,' they said. 'There was basically a hold in the event Kanye opted to show during NYFW. There will be a presentation or showroom for the Season 6 collection, just not during NYFW.'
Reports of confusion swirled for weeks as to why no plans had been confirmed concerning details of the show. The rapper is notoriously tight-lipped about his projects, but this time really gave nothing away.
Yet we've all heard the news that he and Kim K are expecting their third childvia surrogate, so maybe he's tied up with the family? Either way, this won't be the last we've heard of it.
Looking forward to the Twitter rant/meltdown in the coming future.
