Kanye West has publicly apologised to his wife, Kim Kardashian West, for discussing their personal problems in public.

The rapper asked for forgiveness after he posted a series of unsettling tweets, which included allegations that his wife tried to "lock [him] up" and that he wanted a divorce. During an emotional speech at a presidential rally in South Carolina, West also revealed they had considered an abortion when Kardashian West was pregnant with their first child, North.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "I would like to apologise to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me."

Days earlier, the reality star shared a statement on Instagram addressing her husband's mental health problems. "As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder," she wrote. "Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand."

Noting that she had not previously spoken publicly on the matter, she said West was a "brilliant but complicated person" and said "his words sometimes do not align with his intentions".

The father of four is reportedly staying at the ranch in Wyoming that he shares with his wife.
