Thanksgiving recipes can be passed down for generations, found in a cookbook, sourced online, or... presented by the vice president-elect in a 90-second Twitter video? Yep, that works, too. As reported by InStyle, Kamala Harris shared her Thanksgiving turkey recipe in a short video last year that has resurfaced now thanks to a popular TikTok video.

The original video was recorded by Washington Post reporter Jonathan Capehart, who asked Harris about her turkey recipe while she was preparing for an interview on PoliticsNation. You can see in the clip that she has to pause to speak to a producer. "Yes, I’m here. I’m going to talk about a recipe while you’re checking, is that okay?" she says at one point.

"How much does @KamalaHarris like to cook?" Capehart wrote. "She answered my husband's ? about brining a turkey about 1 min before going on @PoliticsNation from Columbia, SC (after I was on). I recorded her response 'cause I don't cook and she was speaking a foreign language."

The audio from the video was then used in a TikTok post from user "feministmama" that shows her trying to follow the recipe. This video has over a million likes.

In the original clip, Harris shares tips for both a wet brine and a dry rub for the turkey. The wet brine involves soaking the turkey in a pot of water with some bay leaves, sugar, and peppercorns. "You could even do a little slice of orange, something like that," Harris says.

"But a dry brine is easier," Harris explains. For that, you'll need to rub kosher salt and black pepper all over the turkey. "Lather that baby up," she says." Then, you can rub a butter and herb mixture — she suggests thyme and rosemary — under the skin. Lastly, "Get a nice big bottle of cheap white wine to baste with butter."

Anyone who is new to roasting a turkey may need a few more details than what Harris gives here. (The TikTok user ended up putting butter on the entire outside of the turkey.) But the video does provide some tips and a look at some very effective multitasking.
