Justin Wants To 'Talk Privately' With Britney After Public Apology
Despite sharing a public apology to his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears on Instagram earlier this year, Justin Timberlake reportedly has more to get off his chest and wants to speak privately with the singer now that her 13-year conservatorship has finally come to an end.
To recap, the duo dated for three years from 1999 to 2002, and were perhaps (read: definitely) the most 'it' couple of the early Noughties. But their fairtytale romance didn't last for ever, ending in a very public, very messy breakup. Fast forward 20 years, and Justin took to social media to apologise for his part in how the media, and the public, turned on Britney in light of their split.
'I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right,' he told his 62.4 million followers. 'I specifically want to apologise to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson [whose top he ripped off during their 2004 Super Bowl performance, exposing her breasts to millions of viewers] both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.'
Now, nine months after his initial apology, a source close to the 40-year-old has revealed he wants to talk privately with his ex.
'Justin loves to see that Britney is now living the life that she wanted for so long. He loves seeing her embrace all the good that will come from her being out of this conservatorship,' the insider told HollywoodLife. 'Justin would love to talk to Britney if Britney wanted to talk to him. But he also does not want to get in the way of the life she is seeking.'
Given that Britney is yet to respond to Justin's apology (although her fiancé casually threw some shade at him earlier this week), we're guessing it's not likely they'll be sitting down for that private chat anytime soon.
