For the newly released video for 'Popstar' by Drake and DJ Khalid, the rapper steps aside to let Bieber take centre stage, at least visually. We see him wake up the morning after a big night with dollar bills and red cups strewn across the floor and dance around a mansion with tonnes of friends, drinks everything and anything and raps along to Drizzy's lyrics while clad in Versace.
But eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that among the many people to be namechecked on Drake's latest hit - Ariana Grande, Bieber himself, Scooter Braun (who also stars in the video), Whitney Houston and David Foster - so too is Selena Gomez, Justin's ex-squeeze.
'Look, Ariana, Selena, my Visa,' Bieber mouths along to the lyrics referring to his high-profile ex-girlfriend.
justin had to say selena’s name in the popstar music video oh my fucking god hahahah pic.twitter.com/jSjqNunANl— 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐬🕯 (@sweetestpIace) September 4, 2020
justin lip-synced selena's name in a music video and im not saying it's a big deal, but if selena did it his fans would already be making threads on how obsessed she is.— emrah 💍 (fan account) (@skinnysel) September 4, 2020
However, as the story in the video progresses, it's revealed that Bieber has not actually returned to his partying ways and it was all a dream...
The 26-year-old wakes up next to his wife of one year Hailey Baldwin and tells her of his dream before professing his love for her, suggesting his relief at being settled into a quieter married life.
Following the overnight of the release, Drake told Bieber on Instagram that he 'owed him one' to which Bieber replied, 'anytime' - suggesting more collaborations between the two coming up.
