Justin Bieber has said he ‘just wants to protect’ 18-year-old singer Billie Eilish in an emotional recent interview.

Bieber, himself a teenage singing sensation, appeared close to tears as he spoke about Eilish, who recently became the youngest artist ever to sing a James Bond theme song with the release of her track No Time To Die last week.

Though Eilish would look to have her feet firmly on the ground after her music career took off over the past year, Bieber still appears concerned for her wellbeing.

Speaking on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Show, Bieber and host Lowe got to talking about the prodigious talent that is Eilish.

Bieber said: “Let her do her thing. If she ever needs me I’m going to be here for her.”

Wiping away tears, he added: “Just protecting those moments because people take for granted encounters and…”

Gathering his composure he continued: “I just want to protect her, you know. I don’t want her to lose it.

“I don’t want her to go through anything I went through. I don’t wish that on anyone. If she ever needs me, I’m just a call away.”

Canadian-born Bieber rocketed to fame when only just a teenager after he was spotted singing songs on YouTube by a music mogul.

Tracks such as My World and Baby helped him acquire millions of fans across the world and he was soon the subject of huge media attention.

The scrutiny lead to the singer going off the rails and he was arrested for the first time in 2014 for driving offences, and has had numerous altercations with photographers.

But his fans remained loyal, and one such fan was Eilish herself.

Obviously happy with her idol’s words, she took to Instagram to share a clip of the moment - and called on her 54 million followers to stream Bieber’s latest album, Changes.

She also posted photos of herself as a child wearing a Justin Bieber t-shirt, as well as her childhood bedroom which is plastered with posters and memorabilia of her icon.

Changes, Bieber’s first album since 2015, is out now.
