5 Outfits That Show These Are the Most Versatile Boots

·3-min read

I would guess that if you surveyed 100 people, they probably wouldn't say that cowboy boots were the shoe style they wore the most—or at all, for that matter. However, I just can't get enough of them, and over the last 12 months, I've worn my favourite vintage pair through all weathers, quite literally. In winter, I tucked in jeans and styled them with a chunky knit; in summer, I paired them with oversize smock dresses and sunnies; then in spring and autumn, I enjoyed wearing them peeking out of wide-leg trousers. That's not bad going for one pair of boots.

They're not exactly the shrinking violets of the shoe-and-boot family, so I understand if you find cowboy boots a little too costume-like for your taste. However, there are also plenty of styles to be found that offer a subtler nod to Western-inspired styling via a Cuban heel or embroidered stitching. I personally think you can't go wrong with a classic black leather pair, which is sure to go with everything you own.

There has been no end to the cowboy-boot outfit inspiration on Instagram this season, and of course, I've been making a mental note of each one. You've got the likes of Megan Adelaide Vega embracing a casual look with a denim jacket, white jeans and printed cowboy boots, and then Estelle Chemouny similarly keeping her outfit simple but allowing her statement-making boots to be centre of attention. Scroll down to see my full edit of chic cowboy-boot outfits to inspire your summer style.

1. Denim Jacket + White Jeans + Printed Cowboy Boots

Megan Adelaide always offers up the coolest low-effort but high-impact pairings. These boots are pretty statement-making, so I would just pair them with white jeans.

Loewe Cropped Denim Jacket (£695)

Arket Crew-Neck T-Shirt (£15)

Arket Wide Cropped Jeans (£28)

Vintage Moreschi Rare Original Black and White Cowboy Boots (£130)

2. T-Shirt Dress + Knee-High Cowboy Boots

The T-shirt dress is a popular style for summer 2021, and it looks great with knee-high cowboy boots, as seen on Alyssa.

COS T-Shirt Dress (£45)

Olivia and Pearl Large Chunky Hoop Earrings (£130)

Isabel Marant Denvee Suede Knee Boots (£580)

3. Pleated Miniskirt + Jumper + White Cowboy Boots

I'm so into the throwback appeal of this pleated-skirt-and-crew-neck-knit pairing, which is perfectly offset with a pair of secondhand cowboy boots.

Bottega Veneta Oversized Cut-Out Ribbed Sweater (£815)

Collusion Wrap Pleated Mini Skirt With Velcro Tab in White (£22)

JW Anderson Army Green Leather Cross-Body Bag (£710)

Vintage White Cowboy Boots (£75)

4. Dungarees + Ruffle Blouse + Black Cowboy Boots

This has been my go-to outfit pairing throughout spring, but I plan to swap-in a white tee for when the weather warms.

Seventy + Mochi Suki Dungaree in Retro Vintage (£120)

Batsheva Grace Floral-Print Puff-Sleeved Cotton Blouse (£210)

& Other Stories Glossy Hoop Earrings (£11)

Vintage Mayura Leather Cowboy Western Boots (£85)

5. Tank Top + Jeans + Colourful Cowboy Boots

You might not love the eye-popping hue of Estelle's aqua boots, but the principle remains: A brightly coloured shoe is an easy way to liven up your wardrobe basics.

& Other Stories Relaxed Belted Cotton Trench Coat (£120)

Arket Ribbed Racer Tank (£15)

Hollister Ultra High Rise Mom Jeans (£42)

Toral Cross Your Heart Western Boots (£328)
