Now, we find ourselves at that specific point in the year where we have two options before us: going out in a coat without a jumper or going out in a jumper without a coat. Personally, I always opt for the latter for as long as possible. That's mainly because I am and will always be a jumper person, and until the time comes when both are required, jumpers (and umbrellas) are going to serve as my protection from the elements.
For the record, I'm not talking about flimsy knits that do little else other than give my T-shirts a break. I mean big, chunky, Michelin Man–style jumpers that are cosy, comforting and, naturally, chic. This, however, is a formidable combination and not one you come across every day. Some chunky knits can feel more bulbous than beautiful, while ones that deliver in the pretty stakes often lack the cosy quality I also look for. However, when a jumper does manage to kick off this golden triad, you know it's worth your consideration.
Hot on the pursuit of some new woollies, I've rounded up what I consider the best chunky knit jumpers of the season. With a rainbow of colours and an array of weaves, lengths and embellishments, scroll on to see and shop 23 of the best chunky knit jumpers around.
