New research sponsored by Gallagher has found that there's not nearly enough females in sport. In fact, of 2,000 people surveyed more than 75% said that they would like more women role models - further evidence of the gender play gap.

3. Stats just in: Here's how many Brits think bread is bad for them

You've likely heard (or bought in to) the myth that bread is bad for you at some point.

So it may not come as a surprise that a recent major study of 2,000 people by bread company Burgen and commissioned by the World Health Organisation found over a third think they need to cut out bread to maintain a healthy weight (33.9 per cent) and nearly a quarter are clueless on carbs, having “no idea” on whether the food group is good or bad for us.

Further research from the WHO also found that eating enough dietary fibre could cut your risk of early mortality by up to a third. PB on toast, anyone?

4. Do not disturb, on: 66% of you are sharing less on social media

Put down your phones: new stats just in from website OnBuy has found that this year, 66% of consumers are sharing less about their lives on social media.

Plus, 61% of consumers are doing more to monitor their own screen time, 72% of consumers have begun to unfollow certain people and accounts altogether and 66% of people have started to hide social media posts from people with differing views.

5. Vegans, there's a new sausage on the market

If you follow a plant-based diet or are embracing a meat-free Monday for lent, HECK's latest product will satisfy your veggie hunger.

They've been busy in the kitchen designing the UK’s first vegan breakfast sausage-yum. The chickpea, tomato, mushroom and carrot creation is both gluten-free and high in fibre, and joins the four other tasty vegan sausages from the brand earlier last year.

6. Hotel Chocolat works towards zero waste

Did you know that when sugarcane is harvested, a dry pulpy residue is left behind and wasted? Not at Hotel Chocolat. In a bid to edge towards zero waste, the master chocolatiers are using the remnants to complete the recipe for their Dozen Quails eggs, which are being packaged in their first ever biodegradable, compostable and renewable packaging. 7. The first ever all edible takeaway is here-and it's vegan

On the subject of zero waste, plant-based brand Alpro has launched the UK's first ever totally edible takeaway.

Before you say, huh? Let us explain. The ‘Plant-Based Bucket’, or PBB to Alpro insiders, is a vegan twist on a traditional chicken and chips meal deal-with edible packaging and all.

The edible bucket itself is made from a combination of nuts, seeds, and spices, while the meal is made up of mushroom fried 'chicken’, sweet potato fries and a vegan yoghurt and garlic dip.
