In the tanning world, few come as highly rated as the founder of Isle of Paradise, Jules Von Hep. He has been responsible for bronzing Hollywood royalty and fashion week models for over 10 years, and is possibly most famed for being the resident tanning expert for Strictly Come Dancing contestants, before moving on to work his magic on the cast of The Crown.

Counting the likes of Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Lily James among his clientele, the body positivity champion certainly knows a thing or two about achieving a flawless tan. Here, he shares the tools in his kit, including the game changing tool that can help you to create an even, perfect tan at home, all for £10 (yes, really).

My six favourite beauty buys

To calm the mind

Orange Blossom CBD Oil, £26, Trip. I’d never found a CBD Oil that actually mentally calmed me until I discovered this one. Day-to-day stress really gets to me, and this soothes the anxiety noticeably.

For perfect tans

Pro Glow Spray Tan Mister, £9.85, Isle of Paradise. Now, this is a tool! Simply fill it with your IOP Water for your quickest ticket to a streak-free, glowy finish all over. It’s basically a spray tan at home.

My go-to moisturiser

Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30, £87, Elemis. I don’t believe in gender specific beauty - how archaic. This moisturiser makes my skin glow, minimises my blemishes and is something I have bought on repeat for years. It’s fool proof.

The ultimate bronzer

Les Beiges Bronzing Cream, £43, Chanel. I am northern and therefore I love bronzer. When you’re using self-tan you want make up that is going to compliment your new glow, this delivers lightweight matte results and lasts flippin’ ages!

My year-round scent

dd

Les Fleurs, £90 for 50ml edp, Maya Njie. Whenever I wear this fragrance I am guaranteed compliments - I adore how fresh and genderless these scents are. This is like a breath of spring, whatever the season.

For all-over hydration

Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, £44, Sol De Janeiro. The best moisturiser to use when self-tanning: ideal for prepping dry areas pre-tanning and rich enough to keep post-self-tanned skin hydrated.

Jules' top tip

If I had a pound for every time someone asked me about tanning the hands, I’d be answering this from my private island.

The trick to applying self-tanner to your hands is to use residue product from your body application on your arms and sweep lightly onto your moisturised hands. Then immediately after, remoisturise your hands, wipe your nails, palms and in between your fingers, and sweep the Isle of Paradise Shape and Glow Brush over your knuckles and on your wrists.
