Joshua Jackson has opened up about the romantic moment his wife Jodie Turner-Smith proposed to him.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (19 July), Joshua recollected how Jodie proposed to him, calling their decision to get married, 'The best decision of my life.'
After Jimmy showed Joshua a framed photograph of Jodie wearing a 'Pacey' t-shirt, referring to Joshua's character 'Pacey Witter' from Dawson's Creek, he asked, "Did you guys always know that you were destined to get married?"
Joshua replied, 'I knew the moment she asked me.'
He explained that the Anne Boleyn star asked him to marry her on New Year's Eve, saying, 'We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful, incredibly romantic. We were walking down the beach, and she asked me to marry her.'
This cute story prompted a well-deserved round of applause from the audience.
Joshua then clarified that the proposal didn't come out of nowhere, explaining, 'There was a preamble. There was a lead-up to it.'
However, he then admitted that he didn't see the proposal coming. He said, 'I did not know, but she was quite adamant, and she was right.'
He then picked up his wedding ring and said, 'This is the best choice I ever made.'
Literally so cute, guys.
The couple, who married in December 2019 and welcomed their daughter in April 2020, have always been very open about their love one another. And, honestly? It's so lovely to see.
In a cute Father's Day post last month, Jodie shared a pic of Joshua leaning on her stomach. She captioned it, 'My darling @vancityjax, it is apparent, by the effortlessness and fearlessness with which you father our child, that this is your destiny. Your birthright. Your joy.
'[I] thank god every day that you hold the both of us in your strong, capable hands. you are loved. you are adored. you are the best father and husband and friend. Thank you for waiting for us. Happy father’s day to you .'
Joshua celebrated Jodie's birthday on Instagram in September 2020, sharing a photo of her in front of the ocean. He captioned the post, "Happy Birthday my beautiful wife.
'Thank you for choosing to share your light with me. Thank you for walking this path of life as my wife. Thank you for bringing our daughter into the world.
'This last year has been the happiest whirlwind of my life. I can’t wait to see what all the years to come bring our way.'
