Johnson and Southgate condemn racist abuse against players

Boris Johnson and Gareth Southgate have condemned racist abuse against England’s Black players following the Euro 2020 Final on Sunday. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka were all trolled on social media after missing penalties during a shootout at Wembley Stadium. The Football Association and FA president Prince William denounced the attacks on Twitter. A mural of Marcus was even vandalised in Manchester following England’s loss. Fans expressed their shock and anger. The Metropolitan Police is investigating the online abuse.
