John Lewis has just revealed its Christmas decoration themes for 2021, and we're already getting excited about the festive season to come. If you're planning to go all out this year, after a smaller and more intimate Christmas like no other in 2020, then the brand's seven show-stopping festive decorating themes are sure to inspire.
This year's John Lewis Christmas decorating trends are a celebration of nature and British scenery, both urban and rural, with a generous dose of magic and whimsy thrown in, according to the release.
Christmas Buyer Jason Billings-Cray explains: 'From windswept coastlines, to babbling rivers, the colours and feelings we discovered over the last year have inspired the looks we have created for the upcoming festive season. We know many of our customers have found the outdoors to be a tonic at a very strange time and that, even with the reopening of the world, this new love affair is here to stay.'
Ahead of John Lewis' iconic Christmas shop opening later this summer – it launched online late August last year so watch this space – here are the brand's key Christmas decoration trends to know for 2021...
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Snow Mountain
This Christmas decoration trend is inspired by the Scottish Highlands, with its mountain wildlife and the dramatic snowy landscapes. John Lewis says this timeless colour scheme is always a favourite with its customers and modernising the look is simple – simply layer warm neutrals, soft blue tones and silver for a magical feel.
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Gemstone Forest
The Gemstone Forest Christmas decorations trend is all about magical forests, mythical creatures and a fairytale-like landscape. John Lewis has paired rich colours that can be found in the forest at twilight with accent brights to give a luxurious and fun finish.
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Luxe City
This festive decorating trend was inspired by cities and their architecture. It's described as a contemporary theme with a stylish colour palette and plays on the geometry found in towering buildings as well as the warm glow of city lights.
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Copper River
This Christmas tree decoration theme is inspired by a river’s natural stream of flowing water and its wildlife, including trout, otters and kingfishers. The mix of copper and different shades of blue work to create a serene but decadent look.
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Blush Coast
This Christmas trend was inspired by the natural patterns found in waves, sand, salty rocks and barnacled sea creatures. The combination of blush tones and sea blues aims to capture the coast at that magical moment just after the sun has set.
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Technicolour Supernature
Here, John Lewis has reinvented the natural world with bold colours and exaggerated features for a fun, escapist theme that the brand thinks will be a big hit with children this Christmas.
John Lewis Christmas decorations – Festive Field
A classic palette of festive red and gold is shot through with plenty of green in the form of foliage in this look. This traditional Christmas decorating trend was inspired by pastoral landscapes, so hedgerow creatures and homegrown produce both feature.
