I bought John Lewis' hugely popular £22 loungewear set and it's worth every penny
The comfy set is my new favourite WFH outfit.
⏰ I tried it for: Three weeks
⭐ I rate it: 5/5
🛍️ Why it’s worth buying: It's super soft and cosy, but still feels put together and is appropriate for any Zoom call.
📉 Its biggest drawback: The trousers are slightly see through, so you may want to avoid going outside without a long cardigan or coat.
💰 Best deal: It's a bargain for just £22 from John Lewis' affordable own brand Anyday.
As someone whose job is almost completely remote, I spend a lot of time working from home.
When working from home my uniform typically consists of pyjamas or tracksuit bottoms and a cosy jumper. Chic, I know.
While I'll always make an effort to look smart while staying comfortable working from my living room, I'm wary of spending a lot of money on clothes that, let's face it, no one but me will ever see.
However I recently stumbled across an affordable loungewear set from John Lewis.
Costing just £22, I added the set to my basket in the hope it would make me feel more put together when WFH.
When it arrived a few days later, I was immediately impressed with how comfortable the cut was and how soft the fabric felt. I'm now considering buying a second set.
🛍️ Why it’s worth buying
It's a two piece set comprised of a long sleeve top and trousers, which have a thick, elasticated waistband and small pockets either side.
Made from a super soft jersey, it's cosy and warm without making you feel too hot and the long-sleeved top has a relaxed fit and a drop shoulder.
I opted for the black version, but it's also available in pink, blue and green, in sizes eight to 18.
Together it looks like a smart co-ord, so when I have a zoom call, I don't need to make a quick change into a more professional top.
Best of all, it washes well, doesn't bobble and is quick to dry, meaning you can wash it and be wearing it again in less than 36 hours.
With a holiday coming up, I also plan to wear it on the plane - it's the perfect compromise between pyjamas and a smart casual look, what's not to love?
📉 Its biggest drawback
As much as I love it, it would be remiss of me not to mention that the trousers are a tad see-through.
This is no bother when WFH, but you would need to wear a long cardigan or coat if you plan to go outside in it.
💰 Best deals we can find right now
As this is an item from John Lewis' own brand Anyday, you won't be able to find the exact thing anywhere else – but for £22 we're not complaining.
However the retailer does occasionally lower the price of certain colours. For example, the now sold out teal version was reduced to under £20, so it's worth keeping an eye on in case other colours are discounted later on.
