John Lewis has launched its first ever fully recyclable eco mattress, which is available to buy in stores and online now.

Known as the EcoMattress, the innovative vegan-friendly design has been handcrafted in a carbon-neutral factory in Yorkshire using chemical-free materials, 200 recycled plastic bottles, and layers of EcoFlex fibres (a soft polyester filling made from 100 per cent recycled fibres).

The mattress, which can be fully recycled at the end of its life, also features a clever glue-free high density Cortec Quad pocket spring system. With a total of 750 pocket springs in the king size mattress, it aims to provide balance during the night, while also reliving pressure and helping to keep your body weight evenly distributed.

It might be kind to the planet, but it certainly doesn't compromise on style. You'll love the beautiful hand-stitched sides, tufting detailing on the top, and its cushioning polyester filling.

John Lewis explained that there has been an increase in the number of customers looking for eco-friendly homeware goods, with searches for 'recycling' up by 122 per cent compared to last year.

Emily Wimbourne, Partner & Bed Buyer says: 'We are a business led by purpose and with customers becoming more thoughtful about the environment, we want to make it easier for them to shop sustainably. Over the past year we have seen online searches for 'sustainable' increase by 42 per cent and 'eco' by 26 per cent.'
