Over two years ago, as we headed into the first lockdown unaware of what lay ahead, our home offices were somewhat ramshackle.

Many of us set up camp at the dining room table, while others made do with our laps. We used cushions, stools and books to balance our laptops on and then cleared it all away at the weekend to bake banana bread.

Since then, our home offices have improved somewhat. With home working now looking to be a bigger part of our future than we first imagined, we've invested - bit by bit - in gadgets and furniture to help us make the most of our space.

But one thing many of us are still struggling with is finding the perfect office chair - we have a new-found appreciation for the seating arrangements at our offices.

Thankfully, John Lewis has come up with the Murray Ergonomic Office Chair, it's ideal for working from home and, unsurprisingly, has been racking up the reviews.

In fact, it has become so popular it has sold out several times since 2021, and after a couple of months hiatus, is finally back on the site, once again.

Designed for both comfort and support, this chair features a mesh backrest to offer lumbar support and is height-adjustable so you can set it up to suit your proportions.

It looks pretty smart, will certainly jazz up our home office and, we would argue best of all, it allows you to swivel - which lets face it, is always fun.

The chair also comes with the recommended use of up to eight hours per day, so it's fit for the working day.

Many customers say it gives them excellent support for working for several hours, providing comfort while also helping their posture. Plus, many note it's a fraction of the price of other ergonomic designs.

While self-assembly is required, customers say its easy to put up, many praising its clear and simple instructions.

What the reviews say:

Having racked up over 100 reviews, many Brits having now tried and tested it for over a year, there's great feedback on the chairs comfort, support and value for money.

  • "I was so unsure about ordering this as it was more than I had wanted to spend, but I'm so glad I did. I wanted something ergonomic and this is perfect. The lumbar support is amazing, you can adjust the height and amount of support."
