John Boyega is thankful for the “love and support” he's seen following his involvement in the Black Lives Matter protest.
The actor took to Instagram to urge people to keep the movement going: “This is an intense time for our community, and the most important thing is for us to maintain momentum and not lose sight of how critical it is to pursue long-term solutions and commitments, for the sake of our generation, and the next.”
“I know you’re all thinking, what’s next? Where do we go from here? Because I’m thinking the same shit! Conversations about black businesses, ownership and support are happening, and I will continue to have these conversations with the full intention of birthing ideas that are sustainable and tangible.”
He posted the caption alongside photographs of pre-lockdown school visits in London, in order to motivate the pupils towards a “stronger and brighter” future.
Boyega gave an impromptu speech during a Black Lives Matter protest in London last week - one of many protests that took place around the world following the death of George Floyd.
“Black lives have always mattered,” he told the crowd. “We have always been important. We have always meant something we have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting.”
A number of other stars were spotted joining in at protests this weekend, including Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas in Mammoth Lakes, California; Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez in Hollywood; Ariana Grande in Beverly Hills; Timothee Chalamet in Santa Monica; Jamie Foxx in San Francisco; and Madonna in London.
