Wednesday (22 July) marked the final session of Joe Wicks' PE with Joe morning classes. Starting the week schools closed for lockdown back in March, the sessions proved wildly popular, and Joe became a household name, known as the nation's PE teacher.
Now the summer holidays are here, Joe is taking a well-deserved break. But not before taking to Instagram to share an emotional post about the sessions and thank fans for their support.
Promising followers he'd be back again soon, Joe posted some pretty impressive stats on just how many of us tuned in and how much money was raised for charity in a caption of a sweet picture featuring his family and guest stars.
He wrote: "78 workouts, 80 million views, 2,271 years of total at watch time 🤯, £580k raised for @nhscharitiestogether ❤️🙏🏼. Thank you so much for being a part of #PeWithJoe 🙌🏽. I hope you’ve enjoyed it. I have loved it and am sad it’s over for now. Don’t worry, I’ll be back again soon 🌍. Lots of love, the Wicks family ☺️."
On Tuesday (21 July) ahead of the final day, Joe also took the opportunity to reflect on the sessions with followers, posting a picture of his fitness studio, or living room, with a big 'Thank You' banner.
The fitness star told followers: "Tomorrow morning is the final LIVE #PEWithJoe workout at 9am. Let’s celebrate together 🎉. We’ve been going for 18 straight weeks now so we should all feel so proud of that. I’ve absolutely loved every minute of it but it’s time for me to take some rest and recharge my batteries. It’s not the end though. I’ll be back doing more live workouts later on in the year 🙌🏽😀."
He continued by sharing his motivations for starting PE with Joe and how it completely exceeded his expectations, calling it his proudest achievement.
Joe added: "I think I’m going to really miss it, to be honest. I started it the week that schools went into lockdown because I wanted to help support parents and help children find some happiness, use some energy and feel safe through this time. I really do believe I achieved that ❤️.
"Never did I imagine families all over the world would come together to take part. 80 million views 🌍 is hard to comprehend but this truly is my proudest achievement. Thank you for joining me."
