Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page revealed she suffered a burn injury on the last day of filming. The actress is set to return to our screens on Christmas Day where she’ll play Stacey Shipman in the series finale. Joanna revealed that the burn incident happened when she became overwhelmed with emotion, and before it happened, she was in her trailer in tears with an assistant director.

Joanna told Fabulous magazine: “On the last day on set, I was thinking ‘Pull yourself together’, but I was in such a state I knocked my boiling hot coffee over myself in make-up. I had to get the costume department to wash my clothes. It was good, as the shock of being scalded shook me out of it.”

The BBC series is returning after five years away, with all the main cast making a comeback for what they’ve said is the final ever episode of the show. In her chat with Fabulous, Joanna added: “It’s meant so, so much to me. I sat in my trailer and just couldn’t stop crying.”

Fans have been given a sneak peek of the new episode, which is currently playing at the end of the 2019 Christmas special on BBC iPlayer.

It looks like Nessa’s latest financial enterprise is pedalling a tuk-tuk around Barry and charging unsuspecting visitors a premium for it. In the scene, she pulls up along the seafront and asks the elderly couple she is transporting to disembark, asking for a fee of £75. “We’ve only been on a couple of minutes,” the sweet customer objects, to which Nessa replies: “Love, I am just speaking my truth, I find your abusive tone very triggering. You’re damaging my mental health. Now if I was you I would leave it there. You got Apple Pay? I’ve got bluetooth in my bra.”

Ruth Jones, who plays Nessa and also created the show with co-star James Corden, was thrilled to be writing a final episode - which comes out 17 years after the first series was broadcast. Speaking ahead of the finale, she said: “I feel terribly proud of how long it’s lasted and how people who weren’t even born when it came out are now fans. That means such a lot.

“It’s been a very special time in my life, and it’s spanned seventeen years. The lovely friends I’ve made from it and the happy times we’ve had filming are such a joy. I feel very lucky to have been part of it.”

Ruth's co-creator, James, agreed and added that it was a “privilege” to “end the show on our own terms”. James went on to say that Gavin and Stacey ‘changed his life’, but that the best thing to come out of the show was his "friendship" with Ruth.
