JLS star JB Gill backs Brits looking to quit their jobs

JLS star JB Gill has offered his support to the thousands of Britons considering quitting their jobs this year.

A new poll of 2,000 working Brits commissioned by chewing gum brand AIRWAVES has found that more than half (53 per cent) of respondents are contemplating changing careers in 2022 - with 21 January the most popular date to take the plunge.

Among those surveyed, the most common reason for wanting a change of job was to obtain a better work-life balance, with approximately one-third of people polled citing a desire for an entirely fresh start.

When compared by generation, members of Gen-Z were the most likely to consider quitting their job this January, with approximately 60 per cent considering resignation. Those aged 45 and older were the least likely to consider quitting, at 43 per cent.

However, when it comes to job hunting, eight in 10 Brits admitted they find the prospect of searching for a new job daunting, whilst 78 per cent insisted that they dread being interviewed for a new position.

JB has himself stepped back from pop stardom to run a farm with his family and wants to help those also dreaming of a move to pastures new.

As such, he has partnered with AIRWAVES to launch a career coaching service.

"I know what it's like to go from one extreme to the other having taken up agriculture after being in the music industry," he said. "It's good to make a change when necessary, sometimes you just need a little push or some advice."

The research also revealed that January is the most popular month for Brits to quit their jobs - with 40 per cent reporting that they might hand in their notice soon.

Those looking to change up their job can apply for the chance to book a virtual careers advice session with a JV Career Coach, with JB set to join in on some of the conversations.

"The New Year or January is ultimately a time for a change. When we reflect on the previous 12 months and put plans in place to better our lives, sometimes this means making a career shift," said Joanna Vinacour of JV Career Coaching.

To launch the service, JB has starred in a video in which he uses lyrics from hit JLS songs to motivate those wanting to make a change.

With January reportedly the most popular month for Brits to quit their jobs, anyone interested in the one-on-one coaching sessions has until 25 January to sign-up by emailing help@airwavesgum.com.
