JK Rowling is releasing a new book, which is exciting
For Harry Potter fans, anything JK Rowling touches turns to gold. Which might be why they're fully losing it over news the author is releasing a new book - The Ickabog.
Taking to Twitter to announce the news, the mastermind behind the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry revealed she had a new children's book on the cards, and that she wanted her followers to help illustrate it.
'I have a small announcement, but before I get started, I want to head off one possible source of confusion,' JK wrote to her 14.6 million Twitter followers. 'THIS IS NOT A HARRY POTTER SPIN-OFF. Over 10 years ago, I wrote a stand-alone fairytale called The Ickabog.

'I always meant to publish it, but after the last Potter was released I wrote two novels for adults and, after some dithering, decided to put those out next. Over time I came to think of The Ickabog as just for my family. The manuscript went up into the attic, where it remained until a few weeks ago.'
She continued, 'Anyway, over the last few weeks I’ve done a bit of rewriting and I’ve decided to publish The Ickabog for free online.'
The author went on to explain that she wanted children to illustrate the book for her, adding that the 'best pictures in each publishing territory will be included in the books we intend to publish in November 2020'. JK also said the profits from the book would go to Covid-19 charities.
While we might not be children, we're not above illustrating a fairytale - and we're certainly not above a new JK Rowling book.
