Jeremy Clarkson’s Range Rover appears to have been targeted by activists who covered it in tonnes of compost.

The Grand Tour star, 61, has faced opposition over plans for expansion at his Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, with people camping there to protest.

Now pictures in the Daily Mail have shown a digger tipping compost all over what appears to be Clarkson’s car.

The star was apparently present at the time and a police car can be seen in one of the shots.

Clarkson’s farm shop was also daubed with graffiti, and onlookers said protesters strung up a banner saying 'Save Our Turf, Save The Earth'.

One onlooker told the Mail that protesters had said three tonnes of mushroom compost were dumped over the car, adding: “I actually felt sorry for Clarkson, I don't think he deserved that.”

The former Top Gear presenter bought the country estate in 2008 and this year shone a spotlight on it in his Amazon Prime show Clarkson's Farm.

As a result, the Diddly Squat Farm Shop has been overrun with fans and neighbours have raised grievances over the increase in traffic.

Residents were further upset when the star revealed he now wants to build a restaurant in an old lambing shed on his land.

Writing about their reaction in his latest Sunday Times column, Clarkson said that his suggestion had "gone down like a shower of sick with a few red-trouser people in my local village”.
