Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he took a leaf out of the Queen’s book in a bid to lose some weight.

The Grand Tour presenter, 59, is sporting a new sleeker look after shedding a whopping two stone last year.

He said that he heard the Queen stuck to light meals so he took his lead from her, because sweating it out at the gym would have been rather “unseemly”.

Asked if he had been pumping iron to get in shape, Clarkson told The Sun: “No.

“No, that would be unseemly.

“The Queen doesn’t go to the gym and she doesn’t run and she’s 93 and she’s all right.”

He went on: “Apparently she only has a forkful, she only has a tiny bit, that’s what I’ve heard.

“She’ll sit down and just have one little bit of mousse and bit of a lettuce leaf.”

Clarkson has previously said that he piled on the pounds after giving up smoking.

The former host of Top Gear smoked 40 a day for 43 years but finally kicked the habit in 2017, after going without cigarettes while he was in hospital suffering from pneumonia.

Speaking at a Q&A with his Grand Tour co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond, he told the audience that quitting his habit did have an impact on his waistline.

“I’m a lot fatter,” admitted the star.

“I gave up smoking, anyone here given up smoking?

“Anyone else get fat, like unbelievably fat, as a result of it? It’s just terrifying.”

May joked: “So, why were you fat when you were smoking?”
