Jennifer Lopez's Love Don't Cost A Thing Challenge has divided the internet

From Cosmopolitan

Can you believe it's been 20 whole years since Jennifer Lopez released Love Don't Cost A Thing? Nope, neither can we. The singer/actor/age-defying legend celebrated the milestone by recreating the absolutely iconic music video over the weekend.

In the 2021 version, she casually chucks away her sunglasses, coat and bracelet while strutting along a beyond idyllic, sun-drenched beach. The singer then asked her millions of fans to join in with their own versions using the hashtag #LoveDontCostAThingChallenge, but ~er, not surprisingly~ it's sadly not quite taken off.

Nope, it wasn't long before people stuck at home jumped on Twitter to criticise the challenge. "Maam this is tone deaf," one Twitter user replied. "Can't nobody afford to be throwing their stuff on the beach," while another asked, "I’m only allowed to leave my house for an hour of exercise and you want me to throw away my possessions on a beach?"

A third confused fan tweeted, "Jlo we supposed to throw our valuables on the beach? Is the challenge to find it after we throw it bc we can’t afford to replace it?!? What is the instructions?!?!????? (sic)"

Still, there were some loyal fans who showed up for their idol, including this person who added their own spin on it with their snowy backdrop, scarf and gloves:

Also iconic.
