If you ever wanted to know the secret behind Jennifer Garner's glowing skin, now we have it.

In the midst of last night's turbulent Academy Awards, Garner's beauty team took to Instagram to reveal the 49-year-old uses none other than Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Gel Cream and Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Serum to get her Oscar-worthy glow.

Garner, a Neutrogena brand ambassador, has praised the affordable skincare brand on several occasions, most recently telling InStyle the $20 Hydro Boost Gel Cream is "my favourite product we've ever put out."

"I'm turning 50 in a few days, and I'm happy to be turning 50," she told the magazine. "This is what 50 looks like. [The Gel Cream] is a fan favourite for a reason."

Garner credits the hyaluronic acid-infused moisturizer for "instantly" filling in her micro-lines and keeping her skin looking "fresh and plump."

"I can instantly tell the difference" when using the cream, she said.

"[My skin] looks fresh and plump and better. There are all these little micro-lines that once I put this on, they go away."

The details

Neutrogena's Hydro Boost contains hyaluronic acid, an ingredient that naturally occurs in the skin but diminishes as we age. It includes ingredients like glycerin and dimethicone to help restore the skin's moisture barrier, preventing further moisture loss over time.

The gel-cream is oil-free, fragrance-free, dye-free, and non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores and lead to future breakouts.

"It's just so satisfying, you instantly see the difference [in your skin]," according to Garner. "We all want the instant fix, right? Nothing is faster than plumping your skin as it's sitting on your body."

Alongside the star's ringing endorsement, the Hydro Boost Facial Gel Cream has become a must-have among Amazon shoppers, earning an average rating of 4.5 stars out of more than 6,200 reviews.

'It's taken years off my face'

Alongside the star's ringing endorsement, the Hydro Boost Facial Gel Cream has become a must-have among Amazon shoppers, earning an average rating of 4.5 stars out of more than 6,200 reviews.

"I am in my 40s," and the Hydro Boost has "brightened and tightened" my skin, writes one shopper. "It's taken years off my face."

I have used the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for nearly a year now, and the difference in my "facial wrinkles is amazing," says another reviewer. "I am 72 years old," and I am "constantly" being told "how fresh my skin looks."

It's my "new holy grail," echos a third user. "I have very oily skin" and find that most moisturizers "leave an oily layer" without "penetrating properly." On the other hand, the Neutrogena gel-cream leaves a "smooth and hydrating finish" and doesn't feel "heavy or oily."

While the cult-favourite gel-cream has earned rave reviews for its moisturizing capabilities and lightweight feel, a handful of shoppers say that while "hydrating," it's "not heavy enough" to be "a finishing layer."

It's a "great lightweight moisturizer," but it doesn't keep your skin "hydrated for the whole day," writes one user.

I "love" that it gives my skin a "nice splash of hydration," but you need to "seal" it in with a cream or sunscreen to "keep it from going away."

It "adds moisture" but "does not protect," says another shopper. I have "dry skin" and need to apply an "oil or heavier cream" on top of it to "keep in the moisture."

The verdict

Beloved by thousands of Amazon shoppers and Jennifer Garner herself, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Facial Gel Cream has been dubbed a "holy grail" product by its fans. While most shoppers agree that the $20 gel-cream is "hydrating" and brightening, some say it's "not heavy enough" for an all-day moisturizer, something to keep in mind if you have dry skin.
